What a Difference Nine Months Makes

Jack will be nine months on Sunday. Today, as he was trying to eat the front door, mom (we're at their house while Nathan is traveling for work) looked at me and said, "Think about what he was like nine months ago." Quite a bit different.

What he was like then...

And what he was up to today...

He had all the time in the world to eat the front door today because he's decided he doesn't need to take naps anymore. Today he got up at 6:10, and then slept for 20 minutes this morning and 40 minutes this afternoon. He was asleep at 6:55 tonight.

A Surprise in the Nursery

This afternoon Jack was playing sweetly and quietly (or so I thought) in his crib while I ran the water for his bath. Turns out, he was hard at work learning how to pull up on the side of his crib. I was probably only out of his room for two minutes. When I came back, a smiling and standing baby greeted me. He was holding on to the crib railing for dear life. He hasn't quite figured out how to gracefully sit down yet. Maybe that's next...

Another fun thing he does now -- when Nathan comes home Jack stops what he's doing as soon as he hears the key in the door. He stares at the door to see what is happening, and when he sees Nathan he crawls as fast as he can to get to him. Tonight Nathan was on a conference call when he got home and Jack just kept following him around, wondering why daddy hadn't picked him up yet.
