Jack's Art and Music Show

Tonight was Jack's kindergarten art and music show at school. We got to see three pieces of art and then listen to them sing for us. In the picture above, Jack is standing next to his rainbow art. First they sang their school song and then they did four more songs. Instead of just standing at the front and singing, the teacher said she tried to make it more like a sample of what they do during music class each week. So they did one song where they danced with scarves.


In another they played xylophones.


Another was called the statue song and the last one was a dancing song that we got to do with them.


It was fun to see Jack in action, and with his friends. Here he is with his best friend Quinn. Tomorrow night he's on the stage again -- it's his last children's choir performance of the year at church.

Henry's Storytime Graduation

Yesterday was the last day of storytime for the year. For Henry, that also meant graduation day! They play "Pomp and Circumstance" and each graduate gets a little certificate. Toddler storytime lasts until you are 3 years old.

I took pictures yesterday so we can remember storytime, which is one of Henry's favorite times each week. He loves catching bubbles, singing songs and doing the shakers and musical instruments. And that's not all... they read stories, play with the parachute and do a craft. The picture where all the kids are laying down is "Bears Are Sleeping" time. After they play the parachute games, they all lay down under the parachute and we sing the song "Bears Are Sleeping." At the end they all wake up. I can't believe he's big enough to be done with storytime. August will be here before we know it and he'll be starting preschool.

Cool Guy

Henry got some new sunglasses last week. He says he's a cool guy when he wears them. I have to agree.

Going to the Chapel

Jack and Henry are going to be in cousin Ryan’s wedding! Ryan and Ariel sent them cute little boxes with ring pops inside.

Jack…lately and a new fort

Jack started taekwondo this month, and t-ball. All of a sudden, he has a busy schedule. He really likes taekwondo and has earned two stripes so far on his belt. He took his Korean money from Uncle Will to show his teacher and his other classmates.

Another highlight of his month was Dads and Donuts at school. He couldn’t go to sleep the night before because he was so excited.

We also turned the space underneath the basement stairs into a little fort for the boys. Nathan hung up some Christmas lights and we put up a chalkboard and hung a curtain. They decided they wanted to sleep in it… they lasted about 30 minutes. They tried so hard, but Henry couldn’t stop telling knock-knock jokes and sleep was not going to happen.

Henry… lately

I’ve fallen behind on my posts lately, so here are some pictures of Henry from the last month. We made a house for his stuffed cat, Catty Jane or Mr. Pettibone. The name changes day-to-day. Her favorite color is pink, hence the pink house. He climbed his first tree, with a bit of help, and did some batting practice.

Easter 2014

We had a great Easter! Yesterday morning we went to our church egg hunt and enjoyed cinnamon rolls, face painting, a visit from the Easter Bunny and lots of egg hunting. Here are the boys showing off their loot after we got home.

Yesterday afternoon we dyed eggs.

This morning we woke up and the boys were excited to check out their Easter baskets. They both got a new Bible and the new scripture lullabies CD, and of course candy. Now that Jack can read we got him a New International Reader’s Version bible, which is a little easier translation for new readers. He was really excited and was sure to take it to church.

Henry dumped his jelly beans and Reece's pieces into his bucket and then decided the best way to eat his candy was by sticking his head in it.

Then it was time for pictures before church.

After church we went to Aunt Sherry’s (or Cherry Sue’s if you ask Henry) for lunch and a big egg hunt. Here are the boys and Kate.

Henry discovered he loves Jello eggs and devoured three (and brought home a baggie with five more in it).

Next up was the egg hunt! We only had three kids hunting eggs this year, compared to 12 or 13 we used to have when we were little. But I think we still had the same number of eggs… the boys got so many, and so much candy. At least 5 pounds of candy!

Aside from the sweets and candy, we talked about Jesus and the real reason for Easter. Jack is starting to understand the story and it was fun to listen to him explain Easter to Henry. They only got in one argument about if it was Jesus or God who died on the cross.
