100th Day of School

Henry's kindergarten class celebrated the 100th day of school a week ago. They had activities all day long, including making a necklace with 100 fruit loops, writing their numbers all the way to 100, creating a picture of what they will look like when they are 100 and making fun hats. Henry had a blast and I enjoyed volunteering and helping with the activities. I'd say he looks 100 days smarter to me!

Busy Saturdays

Both boys are playing basketball and now that games have started, our Saturdays are basketball days. They are both enjoying playing and getting better every week. Henry is on the Little Dragons and Jack is on the Warriors. Henry wanted to lay down for this picture, which kind of defeats the fact I was trying to take a picture of him in his uniform.

Jack also had Pinewood Derby a couple of weeks ago. He worked very hard on his car and has ideas already to make it even faster next year.

New Year's Eve

On New Year's Eve we went to our first professional hockey game. Some friends invited us and it was a blast. Before the game, we went to a fun Mexican restaurant for dinner and the kids all got balloon creations.

Then it was off to the game. It was packed and so fun. Jack is going to go back for another game with friends for his birthday party. When we got home we went over to a neighbor's house for a few minutes and then came home a had a New Year's Even toast complete with sparkling grape juice.

Henry's 6th Birthday Video

Here's the latest edition of the annual Henry birthday interview.  We did the interview last night after Henry's birthday meal at Joy Wok, Liberty's newest all you can eat Chinese buffet.  Henry ate egg drop soup and about 3 full plates of fruit.  They finished the meal with "Chinese ice cream," (which was just soft serve) which the boys both agreed was not quite as good as regular American ice cream.

The boys were so wound up that on the way home, Henry was alternating between laughing at Jack and then crying because all the laughing was making his stomach hurt.  So, Jack was sitting on the basement steps because we had very little confidence in his ability to stay quiet during the interview, so when you see Henry glance repeatedly to his left, that's what he's looking at.

Henry's 6th Birthday Party

Today, Henry's birthday dream came true -- it snowed on the day of his birthday party! He was hoping for enough snow to turn the party into a sledding party. That didn't happen because the snow didn't really start until this afternoon and the party was this morning. So we stuck with our original theme of jungle animals. Three of his friends (Archer, Cameron and Beau) braved the icy roads and came over for a morning of fun. Sadly, two friends couldn't even make it out of their driveway because of the ice.

Played limbo.

And enjoyed a jungle cake and very fancy chocolate fountain.

It was a great morning of fun for our birthday boy (who slept in his party clothes last night -- shorts and a t-shirt). We convinced him to change from short to pants since it's 12 degrees outside. Next up -- his real birthday on Wednesday!

Jack's Christmas Recital

Jack's Christmas piano recital was a couple of weeks ago. He worked so hard to learn and perfect his piece -- "Joy to the World." He played beautifully. We were so proud of him. Sweet Sophie played in her first recital and also did a great job! How are these babies so grown up and playing in piano recitals?!

Santa Night

Last Sunday some friends invited us over for a Christmas party and a very special guest joined us -- Santa!

Henry got just what he'd asked for -- Axl from Nexo Nights.

And Jack got what he asked for too -- the Harry Potter Wii game!

Lucky is Back!

On Dec. 1 we woke up to a special breakfast compliments of our good pal Lucky. It turns out Santa gave him a new job at Neenee's Dolls and Toys, but he had an unfortunate incident with a birthday cake, the candles and accidentally lighting some dolls on fire. So he found himself sent back to our house again for the month of December.

The boys are enjoying searching for Lucky every morning. And they are loving their new Lego advent calendar from Aunt Lindsay and Uncle Anthony.

Birthday Fun

November was a blur of birthdays and Thanksgiving. The boys treated me to a very special day and fun presents. For Nathan's birthday we held our first ever cookie tasting, complete with a scoring system (snicker doodles won!).

Halloween 2016

This year we had Harry Potter and a black panther at our house. Henry's costume was inspired by a trip to the Dallas Aquarium this summer and his sighting of a black panther. Jack is on book 5 of the Harry Potter books and is loving all things Potter.

We trick or treated with Quinn (Jack's best friend) and his little brother. It was a very fun night and they got tons of candy!

We carved pumpkins a few days before. So fun!
