December Fun

 December was filled with all kinds of excitement. Lucky came back! And brought ornaments, Advent calendars, powdered sugar donuts and all kinds of other fun stuff throughout the month. 

We got new carpet and finally got to decorate for Christmas!!!

We got to go to church for the first time since March... but it was only to record the boys playing a Christmas carol for Christmas Eve serve. Even so, we were in the sanctuary and it was great. 

Lucky brought new Christmas t-shirts. 

We made a different Christmas treat every weekend in December. Jack started with oreo truffles, next was gingerbread sugar cookies and then we ended with turtle cookies. 

We made gingerbread houses. This year we each had our own tiny house to decorate.

And of course we made and decorated sugar cookies. Not getting to decorate sugar cookies with family and not get to go to in-person Christmas Eve service were the two biggest bummers of Christmas for me. 

And last but not least, the boys still loved reading the daily Disney books from the Advent calendar. 

Thanksgiving

 Thanksgiving was pretty weird since we stayed home and didn't see any family. We made the best of it and had a good day. Henry worked very hard to make the table special and pretty. And Nathan worked very hard to make homemade whipped cream. 

Nathan's Birthday

 We celebrated Nathan's birthday with... what else? Chocolate cake!!!

The Best Halloween Ever

 I wouldn't call any holidays from 2020 the best ever -- except for Halloween! It was a beautiful day and we went to Baldwin to have outdoor Halloween fun with Great Grandpa Bill, Grandma Pam, Grandpa Glen, Uncle Will, Glenny and Aunt Regina. It was the best ever! We had Neewollah Jeopardy, Halloween Mad Lib, a piñata, a costume fashion show and bobbing for apples. Then we came home for more costumes and trick or tricking. 

The Flood

 Friday, Oct. 23 started off innocently enough... the boys had the day off from school, I went to Hy-Vee early to get groceries and then got donuts at Lamar's to bring home for breakfast. Little did we know what was in store for us! I got home about 8:30 and the boys were watching Netflix. At about 8:45 Jack said, "Mom, there's water coming out of the lights." A valve had burst in the master bathroom upstairs and within minutes water was flooding through the ceiling in the family room. 

We stayed at a hotel the entire weekend and then got ready for lots of repairs! We ended up getting a new ceiling in the family room and then they had to retexture and repaint it all the way into the kitchen. We also had to get new carpet in the entire house. The new carpet was installed on Dec. 8. And we're still waiting on the new couch! I'm posting these pictures so we don't forget the Great Flood of 2020!
