Katy Trail Weekend

Last weekend we took our annual trip to the Katy Trail to stay in the boxcar and ride bikes. Every time we go I tell Nathan and the boys that this is my favorite weekend of the entire year. My new goal is for us to ride the entire trail before Jack graduates from high school. No one else is on board with this goal yet.

We can't remember for sure but we think this was our fourth time to go to Rocheport. We actually had to wait an entire year for this trip. We were supposed to go last October and rain delayed it until May, and then COVID happened. So we were very excited to finally get to go! After Henry's soccer game on Saturday morning, we loaded up and headed out.

We got there around 3, put our stuff in the boxcar and set out on the trail. We rode to the nature preserve and hiked up a really steep hill! Then the boys did tough guys poses for pictures and Henry photo bombed Jack.

The next morning we slept in, ate breakfast in the boxcar and relaxed until it was time to start riding. The boys did not appreciate my photo taking efforts.

The tire swing out front was super fun!

Time to ride! We rode seven miles to eat lunch at place called Katfish Katy's.

We made it -- we had a great lunch and rode back.

Along the trail, the boys explored a couple of caves, climbed up a pretty steep and high cliff type thingy. Henry got a little spooked coming down and Jack calmed him down and did a great job helping him get back down. Then they needed post-ride snacks while Nathan loaded the bikes.

Usually we just head home at this point, but this year our friends invited to their annual Pumpkin Days celebration. Julia grew up outside of Rocheport and every year her dad grows a pumpkin patch just for his grandkids and their friends. It happened to be last weekend so we got to go. It was so fun! So many pumpkins and tons of snacks for the kids. Once again, I think this was probably my favorite weekend of the year!
