Well, today was an exciting day. We got about 11 inches of snow, so Jack was out of school and Nathan was home from work. Yesterday, in anticipation of the snow storm, Jack picked out a Thomas the Train Christmas DVD at the library (because it had snow in it). After breakfast they got busy watching Thomas while the snow came down outside.
After the movie, we couldn’t go outside quite yet because it snowing so hard. So we made a snowman craft, drew some snowflakes with chalk and cut out snowflakes from coffee filters.
Around 10:45, our neighbors went outside to play so I couldn’t hold Jack off any longer. We bundled up and headed out into the blizzard. It was still snowing really hard so Jack only went down the hill once on the sled. The snow was going right into his face and it was pretty cold. Instead we went up on the porch, and Henry and I sat down and watched Jack shovel snow. Henry wanted to stay outside but was much happier on the porch, as long as his scarf was covering his face.
Next up was lunch and then we made snow ice cream. First thing in the morning we put a bowl out to catch snow and it was almost buried by the time we got brought it inside. We added sweetened condensed milk and some vanilla to a bunch of snow and… ice cream! They loved it.
After Jack’s rest, he and Nathan went back outside to shovel. They built an awesome snow fort.
And then they buried Jack in snow.
They had a great day, and I’m sure they’ll have more fun in the snow tomorrow.
Then sweet little Henry ended the day by reading Woody a bedtime story.
